Serological  Differentiation of the two different Genotypes (Biotypes) 

of P. zopfii and P. blaschkeae

Rabbit hyper immune serums raised against RZI-3 (A; P. zopfii genotype 1 ), SAG 263-4 (B; P. zopfii genotype 2), and RZIII-3 (C; P. blaschkeae) were used as primary antibodies. Specific antigens of P. zopfii genotype 2 (lane 1, SAG 263-4; lane 2, SAG 2021; lane 5, RZ II-1; lane 6, RZII-3); #, at 51 kDa, and of P. blaschkeae (lane 7, RZIII-1; lane 8, RZIII-3); *, at 37 kDa were indicated by arrows. P. zopfii genotype 1 is shown in lane 3 (RZI-1) and 4 (RZI-3). The § symbol indicates a common antigen of all biotypes at 30 kDa.
